According to reports, Davidson purchased a Cavapoo, a mixed breed between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle. Citipups claims to have fewer barriers compared to some rescue organizations, which may reject potential owners based on factors such as experience, housing, income, or children. The store ensures that all pups sold come with up-to-date vaccines, a microchip, a free vet check, a congenital health warranty, and a 24/7 hotline for owner assistance.

The comedian lost his pet dog around the start of May, according to a report by People. The former SNL cast member discussed how the dog’s influence on his and his family’s lives made the loss particularly devastating.
This purchase faced further criticism, with commenters expressing disapproval of Davidson’s decision to buy a dog from a store instead of adopting it. Some called him “out of touch” in 2023, while others questioned the legality of such pet shops.
