Celebrity Paula Abdul accused a former producer of American Idol of assaulting her more than once. The award-winning singer-dancer said that she had remained quiet for years as she thought that he would fire her from working on American Idol. Celebrity producer Nigel Lythgoe, who produced popular shows such as American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance, denied the claims.
Celebrity Paula Abdul filed a lawsuit saying that celebrity producer Nigel Lythgoe had sexually assaulted her when the celebrity was a judge on American Idol. The suit claims that a second assault took place years later when the celebrity singer-dancer-choreographer worked on So You Think You Can Dance, another popular show produced by Lythgoe.
The lawsuit provides graphic details of the assault in a lift in the early 2000s. Celebrity Paula Abdul said that she ultimately decided not to take action although she discussed the assault with one of her representatives. She worked on American Idol for eight seasons and left in 2009.
The suit also claimed that celebrity Paula Abdul faced a second assault from the same producer when she worked on Lythgoe’s show So You Think You Can Dance. She worked on the show for two seasons, following which the Grammy award-winning singer did not work again with celebrity producer Nigel Lythgoe.

Celebrity Paula Abdul also claims that Lythgoe also assaulted one of her assistants and that she had witnessed the assault.
American celebrity singer, dancer, and actress Paula Abdul also said that she was taunted by celebrity producer Lythgoe who said that they should celebrate as seven years had passed and “the statute of limitations had run.”
Celebrity Paula Abdul has filed a lawsuit under the Sexual Abuse and Cover-Up Accountability Act. This California act temporarily lifts the statute of limitations in cases of sexual assault.
Celebrity producer Nigel Lythgoe released a statement to the media in the U.S. The celebrity British executive said the allegations had “shocked” him and more. He said that he learned of the allegations from the press that they were “false” and that he would “fight this appalling smear” with everything that he has.
