On March 27, at the Oscars, Will Smith publicly slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars for joking about his wife Jada’s hairstyle and this made her husband so angry that he slapped the comedian in what was seen by millions of viewers around the world and also bad mouthed him. Chris Rock did not press charges, so there was no arrest. The comedian later said that he was unaware that Jada was suffering from alopecia, a hair condition.
Will Smith issued a general apology. He resigned from the Academy and faces a 10-year ban from the Academy and was dropped from a few projects. This apology on YouTube is his first direct, public apology.
