Many people find innovative ways to serve custody papers, as almost nobody wants to get them. However, the custody papers served to celebrity Olivia Wilde will be remembered in Hollywood history as she was served papers by her ex Jason Sudeikis, while she was on stage. The actress was discussing her movie “Don’t Worry Darling” on stage at CinemaCon in Vegas, when a manilla envelope was slid across the front of the stage to her. She appeared slightly confused after she opened the envelope but regained her composure and continued with her presentation.
The 38-year old actress-director was presenting her directorial thriller “Don’t Worry Darling” in front of 4,100 film executives. In the midst of the presentation, an unidentified person placed a manila envelope on stage at Caesar’s Palace The Colosseum, in Las Vegas. Wilde questioned, “This is for me?” before she opened the envelope. She appeared to be slightly flustered after she opened and briefly glanced at the contents. The envelope was marked “Personal and Confidential.”
In a report on Wednesday, Deadline said that the mystery envelope given to Olivia Wilde at CinemaCon had legal documents from ex Jason Sudeikis. The Ted Lasso star allegedly served her custody papers. The couple have been separated since the end of 2020. They share two children–Otis, who is eight years old and Daisy, who is five years old.
Variety reported that Jason Sudeikis had “no prior knowledge” that Olivia Wilde would be served on stage at the prestigious conference. However, he has not apologized or commented on the crass way in which the papers were served.
CinemaCon said in a statement that it would “reevaluate” their security protocols. However, Variety reported that several eye witnesses said that the individual who pushed the envelope across “was credentialed by CinemaCon.”
Despite the security lapse and the cheap behavior of trying to take away glory from director-actor Olivia Wilde, she came out on top as she continued her presentation with aplomb, although there was a a short moment where she appeared flustered. Despite the unnecessary stunt, Olivia Wilde continued and described her directorial thriller as “a love letter to movies that push the boundaries of our imagination.”
Olivia Wilde had directed pop star Harry Styles and Penelope Pugh, in “Don’t Worry Darling.” She has been dating actor Harry Styles from several months. The British pop star and actor headlined Coachella this April and also performed with Lizzo, much to the delight of the audience. Olivia reportedly danced along with the crowd during his headline set and both Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles danced together during Billie Eilish’s headline set on April 23., at the California A-list musical festival.
