Celebrity Nicolas Cage’s son, Weston Cage, was arrested and charged on Wednesday. He was released hours later after posting a bond. He turned himself in. The charges date to an incident that took place in late April. There was an altercation between Weston Cage and his mother, Christina Fulton, in Los Angeles.
Police records show that Weston Cage was arrested on July 10 in the 77th division station in Los Angeles. He was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on June 26, following which there was an arrest warrant issued against him.
The 33-year-old turned himself in on Wednesday. According to police records, he was booked at 7:57 a.m. and released a few hours later at 9:50 a.m. after posting a $150,000 bond.
Law enforcement officials told PEOPLE that Weston Cage was booked after the April 28 incident. They said, “During the incident, Cage punched two victims multiple times, causing injury. LAPD responded, and after meeting with all parties, a police report was completed.”
On Thursday, Christina Fulton released the following statement to multiple outlets. It read, “On April 28, 2024, around 5.30 p.m., I received urgent messages from friends of my son, Weston Cage, regarding his deteriorating mental state, urging me to come help.”
It also said, “When I arrived to offer support and console him, he was already amid a manic rage.
Within minutes, I was brutally assaulted and sustained severe injuries. Despite my desperate pleas to the responding police officers to detain him for a mental health evaluation, the police officers refused my request.”
She also said that she was “deeply saddened and concerned” about her son’s “mental health crisis” and that he needed to receive help.
Weston is the son of Nicolas Cage and Christina Fulton. Oscar winner Nicolas Cage reportedly posted the bail.
This is not the first time Weston Cage has been arrested. In 2017, he was arrested for DUI and a hit-and-run. In 2011, he faced domestic violence charges following a dispute with his wife, Nikki Williams, who is now an ex-wife.
