The US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida said that Daniela Rendon availed funds amounting to $381,000 through the Small Business Administration and Paycheck Protection Program. Instead of using these funds to help legitimate employees during the pandemic, the 31-year-old influencer used the cash to disperse fake payroll funds to both family and friends for personal gain.
She used a large chunk of the money to lease a 2021 Bentley Bentayga.

She also rented a luxurious apartment in Biscayne Bay. The federal officials said that other expenses included payment for cosmetic work and refurbishment of designer shoes. All these glamorous expenses were racked up using taxpayers’ monies.
She is now facing seven counts of wire fraud, two counts of money laundering and one count of aggravated identity theft. This could lead to a prison term of up to 20 years.
The Miami Herald said that the indictment stated that she had fabricated loan applications to lenders in two states: New Jersey and Idaho. She falsified the following:
her company’s revenue
payroll
number of employees
cost of goods sold
IRS tax information.

The Miami Herald has also mentioned other worse offenders in South Florida who received the following amounts in COVID-19 relief loans. They include
David T. Hines–$3.4 million
Andre Lorquet–$4.4 million
Valesky Barosy–over $2 million
Daniel Hernandez–over $17 million.
The outlet also reported that the woman was in custody. On Friday, Magistrate Judge Alicia Otazo-Reyes granted a $150,000 bond, despite prosecutors claiming that she was a flight risk and could return to her native Colombia. Daniela Rendon’s arraignment is set for next Thursday.
