Celebrity actor Matthew Perry of Friends fame died on Saturday at the age of 54. The popular actor who played Chandler Bing in the 1990’s super hit U.S. television series Friends apparently died by drowning in a hot tub. Many celebrity friends, co-stars and web fans are devastated. Popular outlets said that the news was confirmed by law enforcement sources.
NBC broadcasted Friends for 10 years and Chandler Bing played by Matthew Perry appeared on all the episodes. The TV channel confirmed that he had died in a post on social media. NBC and Warner Bros. Television Group the producer of Friends expressed their “heartbreak” at the death of the actor who was also described as a “comic genius.”
The Los Angeles Times reported that authorities found celebrity actor Matthew Perry unresponsive when they had responded at about 4 p.m. Seeking anonymity, the sources also said that no drugs were found at the scene and there was no suspicion of foul play. The Los Angeles County coroner’s office will determine the cause of death at a later date.
On Saturday evening, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) used yellow and black LAPD crime scene tape to block off the entrance to Blue Sail Drive, a street off the Pacific Coast Highway. The exclusive neighborhood is at the crest of a hill and offers scenic views of the Pacific Ocean.
The Times also reported It was past 7 p.m., when Matthew Perry’s mother Suzanne and her husband Keith Morrison arrived at the location. Broadcaster Morrison, who is Perry’s stepfather, declined to comment.
Many celebrity friends, neighbors and childhood friend Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau expressed their grief on his untimely passing away and recalled fond memories of him.
