Celebrity Matt Lauer’s daughter crashed her car in the Hamptons last month. She fled the scene, but the crash was huge enough to dislodge the numberplate used to trace the car and the errant driver.
The college student was out with friends in the neighborhood and smashed the car into a fence. A popular outlet reported that the driver was Matt Lauer’s daughter, Romy Lauer. Many web fans have commented on Romy Lauer’s behavior of fleeing the scene.
Page Six reported that Southhampton Town police had identified Romy Lauer as the driver who fled the accident scene. A local resident reported a loud sound at about 4 a.m. on July 5. The person was concerned that someone might be hurt.
Officers arrived near North Sea Mecox Road and found no one at the crash scene. They found that a fence and sign had been damaged, and a license plate had been left behind. They traced the license plate to Romy Lauer. The number plate helped them identify Romy Lauer as the driver, as it belonged to her Jeep Wrangler.

Romy Lauer, a model, posted a short video on social media shortly before the crash, in which she delivered part of Kevin James’s iconic speech at the Daytona 500 in 2007. The King of Queens alum said, “God bless our troops, God bless America, and, gentlemen, start your engines.” The daughter of the disgraced Today show anchor Lauer said, “Gentlemen, start your engines.”
According to Page Six, Romy Lauer has received a summons from the cops for leaving the scene. She is represented by lawyer Edward Burke Jr. The lawyer has several celebrity clients and is currently representing Justin Timberlake, who is charged with a DUI case in Sag Harbor.
Romy Lauer’s father, Matt Lauer, did not respond when asked for a comment. However, many web fans, including the father, daughter, and others, have commented, as the show anchor also left the Today show in disgrace. He was fired because he faced “inappropriate sexual behavior” charges.
