Many fans had objected to the machine gun reference in his moniker as they think that it glorifies guns and firearms. It might be the reason, but he has not confirmed it.
The name change comes after the singer showed a blackout tattoo. He recently covered up a lot of the tattoos on his shoulders and torso. He added the caption “for spiritual purposes only” and thanked Roxx with a tag. The blackout received mixed responses from his web fans.
The singer has changed his name to mgk on streaming platforms and a social media site but remains with his moniker Machine Gun Kelly on Instagram. His title on YouTube and Spotify is displayed as mgk.
MGK recently wiped his Instagram handle clean. He only kept a photo with his blackout tattoo. He added three posts, including his new rap song Don’t Let Me Go. The piano ballad is the second track of new music he released after his rock album.
In 2022, MGK released Mainstream Sellout, his sophomore rock album. In 2023, MGK released the track Pressure. In 2022, he had said that he would return to rap and has followed up with a track in 2023 and a track in February 2024.
MGK has not officially commented on his moniker change and his stage name remains machine gun kelly on Instagram until this article has been posted.
