Celebrity Lizzo faces another lawsuit filed on Thursday by a fashion designer who was a former employee. The suit claims that Amanda Nomura, the wardrobe manager of Lizzo and the singer herself and others were responsible for creating a toxic work environment, harassment and more. The singer has been sued on the day she was receiving an award for her philanthropy and commitment to social justice. Earlier, three dancers have already filed lawsuits against her.
Former wardrobe designer Asha Daniels filed a lawsuit in the Los Angeles County Superior Court on Thursday. The lawsuit alleges that there was sexual harassment as well as racial discrimination at work and Lizzo had failed in preventing a hostile environment at work and more.
Daniels has filed the lawsuit against Lizzo, wardrobe manager Amanda Nomura, Lizzo’s production company Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc., and Carlina Gugliotta, the tour manager.
Lizzo’s spokesperson dismissed the lawsuit as “bogus” and also described it as an “absurd publicity-stunt lawsuit.”
About two months ago, in early August, three dancers had sued Lizzo for a hostile environment at work and for encouraging dancers to engage with performers at a strip club in Amsterdam and more. The lawsuit also mentioned weight shaming and more.
The dancers filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court against Lizzo, her production company and Shirlene Quigley, who is the captain of the performer’s dance team.
Lizzo had addressed the dancer’s lawsuit earlier in a post on social media. The celebrity American rapper and singer said that they were “as unbelievable as they sound and too outrageous not to be addressed.”
Celebrity Lizzo accepted the Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award on Thursday evening. The American musician missed the red-carpet event at the gala hosted by the Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC) in Los Angeles.
Lizzo thanked the BMAC for the award and said that it came at the right time from God. The About Damn Time singer said that she would continue her work of amplifying the work of marginalized people and provide safe spaces for “fat Black women” and more.
