The Met Gala is a much anticipated event in New York City as celebrities from all industries gather together to raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Guests wear funky, eccentric, adventurous or elegant costumes and mingle with each other, while creating fashion statements. The theme of the Met Gala 2022 was “Gilded Glamour.” On Monday, celebrity billionaire Kim Kardashian of The Kardashians encompassed the theme as she dressed in an iconic Marilyn Monroe gown. She was seen chatting with fellow billionaire Tesla’s Elon Musk.
As she hit the red carpet, Kim was wearing the original iconic gown worn by Marilyn Monroe, when she sang “Happy Birthday, Mr. President,” at Madison Square Garden, during the 45th birthday celebrations of John F. Kennedy (JFK). The sparkling gown was worn by the blonde bombshell in 1962. It was acquired by Ripley’s Believe It Or Not” for $4.8 million at an auction.
Kim Kardashian felt that this iconic gown fitted perfectly with the gilded glamour theme of Met Gala 2022. She allegedly lost a few pounds to fit into the dress as Ripley’s refused to allow a single alteration to the 2,500 sparkling stones studded, skin tight Jean Louis gown.
Kardashian had told Vogue that Marilyn Monroe was the “most American thing” according to her. She also said that the moment when Monroe wore the dress and sang, “Happy Birthday” to JFK was the look she wanted. The Skims founder said that everyone wore sheer dresses now but back in those days it was “the original naked dress” and that was the reason why it “was so shocking.”
Kim Kardashian. slipped into a replica gown; to preserve the original iconic gown after she finished her red carpet walk, with boyfriend Pete Davidson of Saturday Night Live, at her side. The billionaire reality star was seen speaking to the world’s richest billionaire, Tesla founder, Elon Musk.
Although the conversion was private, speculation arose that it could have been about Twitter as Musk’s recent $44 billion offer for the social media platform was accepted. The 41-year old KUWTK star has 72.2 million followers on Twitter and is the twelfth most followed account on the site while the 50-year Tesla founder has 90.3 million followers and is the seventh most followed person on Twitter.
