Celebrity rapper Kanye West recently posted that he owes the IRS $50 million and they had frozen $75 million in four of his accounts. Following this, there were reports that he reached a divorce settlement with his ex-wife, reality star and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian and would pay $200,000 as child support. Now reports are emerging that Ye, as he is now known, owes many companies and people all over the nation millions for unpaid contract work, music samples, lawsuits and more.
Early in 2022, Kanye West released his eleventh album called Donda 2. He decided to release this album himself and this business decision could cost him millions of dollars as well as a host of lawsuits.
The success of Donda 2 remains difficult to be quantified as Billboard refused to add it to its music charts but it was reported that the album was pirated by several fans who didn’t want to pay for an approximately $200 stem player.
Another problem that arose due its unconventional release was a deluge of lawsuits. Musicians and IP owners are suing the celebrity rapper for downloading samples for the album without giving credit and without paying for use of their samples in his tracks in Donda 2.

Some of the copyright his album infringed by using samples include
South Bronx by Boogie Down Productions in the track Life of the Party
Flowers by Kanye directly sampled Move Your Body, also known as The House Music Anthem.
These are some of his infringements on music pieces belonging to other artistes, although the singer has also used a sermon by a Texas based pastor called Bishop David Paul Moten, who has sued him. In 2019, he had sampled a prayer of a 4-year old girl, whose guardians had sued him and this case had reportedly been settled, after West was forced to depose.
Other lawsuits against him are reportedly from employees of his 2019 opera Nebuchadnezzar and his Sunday Service shows.
Rare designer clothing company David Cassavant Archive says that Kanye West owes them $400,000 in rental fees while production company Phantom Labs says that the celebrity rapper owes them above $7 million for unpaid work related to his music.
Celebrity rapper Ye, who has been canceled by friends, his major banking partner and big business houses has been courted by the people who are categorized as far right or as Neo-Nazis, after his anti-semitic rants. Kanye West has recently posted that he will run for president in the 2024 elections as well as posted clips about his recent dinner meeting with former President Donald Trump at Mar-A-Lago.
