Grace Jabbari, Jonathan Majors ex-girlfriend, testified for the third day in a row in Jonathan Majors’ domestic abuse trial on Thursday, and she completely broke down in court.
After seeing police body-camera footage of the NYPD responding to her call-in late March, Jabbari sobbed as she exited Judge Michael Gaffey’s courtroom this afternoon, with Majors sitting nearby and under cross-examination from defense attorney Priya Chaudhry.
Jabbari said, “I did not,” in response to Chaudhry’s question about whether or not she struck her head on the DJ booth while the jury watched CCTV from the nightclub. Chaudhry asked Jabbari if she felt blood on her head in a video that showed her caressing her hair as she left the club. She said, “I didn’t touch behind my ear, so I didn’t.”
In an emotionally charged statement, Majors’ ex-girlfriend recalled the actor’s “violent temper” and suicide threats.
Grace Jabbari was questioned by Majors’ attorney, Priya Chaudhry, about why she had gone to a nightclub just after the claimed assault, implying that her injuries couldn’t have been that bad. “I was feeling pain but I was choosing to ignore it. I was filled with adrenaline,” Jabbari testified in front of the jury. “The next morning is when the pain sunk in. When I woke up, I felt like I had been hit by a bus.”
Jabbari talked about how, following the reported altercation with Majors, she met three people on the street. They asked her to go to the Lower East Side of Manhattan’s Loosie’s Nightclub. She attended because she “was tired of being by herself.” Jabbari informed the jury that she danced, had a bottle of Champagne with her new pals, and took “one or two” tequila shots at the location.
She admitted, “I was upset about the cheating.” “I had that on my mind.”
Majors, according to the prosecution, dragged Jabbari’s arm behind her back and punched her on the side of the head after grabbing her hand so firmly that he broke one of her fingers. Prosecutors presented the jury with evidence during Monday’s opening remarks that the March incident was just the most recent episode in what appears to be a pattern of Majors abusing Jabbari physically and psychologically.
The actor has maintained his innocence, and Jabbari was the aggressor in the relationship on March 24th, according to the actor’s lawyers, who have even gone so far as to file a cross-complaint against her in June. In addition to calling the Manhattan District Attorney’s office’s attempt to prosecute Jabbari “doomed,” the defense has referred to the case as a “witch hunt” against their WME-represented client.
Majors has entered a not guilty plea to the three misdemeanor counts of assault and harassment. He could receive up to a year in jail if found guilty. The trial resumes on December 8th, 2023.
