Celebrity Johnny Depp is back after a long and public trial with celebrity ex-Amber Heard. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” alum has been dong well in several endeavors including a reported 7-figure new contract for Sauvage with Christian Dior, selling his digital art and jamming with fellow musician Jeff Beck in the U.K. and Europe. Now the celebrity actor is set to return to Hollywood and direct a movie, 25 years after his directorial debut “The Brave”, after filming in Europe for his role as Louis XV in his first movie after the infamous trial.
In 1997, Johnny Depp had directed the movie “The Brave” starring the celebrity actor along with another big celebrity of the time, Marlon Brando. A quarter century later, the 59-year old actor is going to direct his next film called “Modigliani.” The film that will focus on the life of the famous Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani will be co-produced by celebrity actor Al Pacino and Barry Navidi. Production of the film is expected to begin in spring 2023, in Europe, according to a report in The Hollywood Reporter.
Johnny Depp said that he was honored and humbled that he could direct a story about the great Italian master. Although no mention has been made, as yet, whether he will act in the movie “Modigliani”, he has already restarted his acting career. “Edward Scissorhands” is playing King Louis XV in the film “Jeanne du Barry.” The film’s shooting began in July.
The film “Modigliani” is based on a play with the same name, by Dennis McIntyre in 1980. It is based on two tumultuous days in the artist’s life as he is unable to sell his work. The time is 1916, in Paris and follows the painter and sculptor’s life in those difficult 48 hours. The screenplay has been adapted by Jerzy and Mary Kromolowski.
