Celebrity actor Johnny Depp celebrated his dramatic defamation court triumph over ex-wife Amber Heard by dining with pals at Birmingham’s largest Indian restaurant and racking up a bill of $62,000.
On Sunday night, the Edward Scissorhands star was out with his musician buddy and colleagues Jeff Beck and 20 other people.
The company dined on an Indian buffet at the trendy Varanasi restaurant, which had been particularly prepared for them, along with beverages and Rosé Champagne.
Depp had been granted $15 million in damages, which the judge lowered to $10.4 million due to state law limitations on punitive penalties. The jury awarded Heard $2 million in damages for remarks made by a Depp lawyer that Heard had made up a story and damaged an apartment she shared with Depp to make it appear bad when she brought authorities to the site.
The Secret Window star has been in the UK to support Beck on his tour and has previously been at the Sage Gateshead in the north of England, Glasgow, and London’s Royal Albert Hall. The Hollywood star was in Birmingham to accompany Beck on stage at the Symphony Hall. He stated that six years ago his life and the lives of his children and dear ones had changed. But now, the jury had restored his life.
The purpose of pursuing this lawsuit from the start was to uncover the truth, regardless of the outcome. The Pirates of the Caribbean actor has been enjoying the limelight since successfully sued ex-wife Heard over a 2018 piece she wrote alleging she was a victim of domestic abuse.
He won the jury trial in Virginia last week, which means he will collect millions of dollars from Heard.
Meanwhile, Johnny Depp has created a TikTok account, just days after a Virginia jury awarded him more than $10 million in his libel claim. As of Monday evening, the actor had over 1.6 million followers on the account, where he stated ‘Occasional Thespian’ in his bio.
The celebrity’s decision to join TikTok comes after he garnered overwhelming support from the platform’s users throughout the trial period. According to the publication, the hashtag #JohnnyDepp had more than 33.5 billion views as of Monday, and 20.2 billion views for the hashtag #JusticeforJohnnyDepp.
