Celebrity actor, Johnny Depp, has returned to television. One of the actor’s spots for Dior Sauvage aired during a commercial break of MasterChef on Fox on Wednesday night, TMZ reported.
The video, which Dior released on YouTube in September, features Depp wearing a button-down shirt, leather vest, and matching pants while playing “Wild Thing” on a guitar in front of a wolf crowd.
“In the wilderness, fearless and human,” says Depp in the ad, as a wolf howls in the background, before announcing the men’s fragrance.
The ad was reportedly aired by Dior one week after Depp was acquitted in his defamation lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard.
The actor joined the firm as the face of the cologne in 2015, but it appears to be seeing a comeback recently, considering the attention surrounding his trial with Amber Heard. When the campaign first launched, the commercial was shot years ago, but for obvious reasons, it was not in high rotation. Beauty and personal care products retailer, Sephora has begun promoting the fragrance with an Instagram ad that began appearing again in late May.
Last Thursday, a jury of five men and two women held both Depp and Heard, responsible for slander, but overwhelmingly agreed with the Pirates of the Caribbean star. He was granted $10.35 million in damages, while the Aquaman actress received $2 million in damages.
Depp and his supporters applauded the result, with the actor stating in a statement that the “jury given me my life back.” Meanwhile, Heard termed the ruling a “setback” for women, and her lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft, said last week that her client intends to appeal.
The jury determined that Heard defamed her ex-husband in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed that did not name him. She said in it that she had “become a public figure symbolizing domestic violence” and had “faced the full weight of our culture’s fury for women who speak up.” Depp has insisted that he did not abuse Heard and has accused her of physically abusing him.
On Thursday, Depp and Jeff Beck, with whom he has recently been touring the United Kingdom, revealed their new album, titled 18, which will be released on July 15.
