Police claim that a Pennsylvania man attempted to purchase stolen human remains from an Arkansas woman in order to resell them on Facebook. He has been charged with the abuse of a corpse, and other offenses, including receiving stolen goods. According to reports, Jeremy Lee Pauley, 40, bought human remains from a lady on Facebook. He is well known for buying different bones and teeth, restoring them, and then reselling them. Pauley has made some disturbing purchases, such as “antiques” pelvis and “very old” child’s skulls.
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock confirmed that the remains found had been donated to UAMS’s facility and had been sent to a mortuary for cremation. They were apparently taken from Arkansas Central Mortuary Services by a female mortuary employee, according to UAMS spokeswoman Leslie Taylor, who also noted that a federal investigation is ongoing.
Authorities claim that Pauly hired Candace Scott to steal human remains worth $4,000 from a mortuary connected to the University of Arkansas. A female pelvis, a torso with a nipple, a half-head, a full-head, three brains, a heart, a liver, a lung, two kidneys, and four hands were among the human remains found. Scott was supposed to deliver the consignment to the shop owner, but was detained by authorities in transit. Following an inquiry that began on June 14 when police got a tip regarding Pauley’s dubious behavior and his collections, he was taken into custody on Thursday.
All of this occurred after a caller alerted the authorities to the discovery of “several” five-gallon buckets filled with human remains in Pauley’s basement. The remains, which included human brains, hearts, livers, skin, and lungs, were later found by investigators. The bones that were recovered from Pauley’s basement were of human body parts, confirmed Dr. Wayne Ross.
The Grand Wunderkammer, owned by Pauley, is a store that offers “strange and weird” things to the general public and for museum exhibits. According to his Facebook, he is also the executive director and curator at The Memento Mori Museum. His collection of oddities has gained him a huge fan following online. He now has almost 6,000 fans on Facebook who are curious of what will become of him.
