Celebrity Jennette McCurdy, who alleges that her late mother, Debra, abused her, is staying by her choice to title her biography “I’m Glad My Mom Died.” In an interview with “Good Morning America” on Wednesday, she commented on the title, saying, “I know that it’s attention-grabbing, but it’s also something that I mean truly.” The 30-year-old “iCarly” alum said that she wasn’t using the title in a “flippant” manner and that she thinks those who have also experienced abuse will realize the idea she is attempting to get through.

Despite the somewhat conflicting reactions, she remarked, “I truly appreciate the positivity that I received from a lot of individuals.” The actress went on to say. “I think that anybody who has experienced parental abuse understands this title and I think anybody who has a sense of humor understands this title.”

Jennette gained notoriety for her role as Sam Puckett on iCarly, for which she appeared in all six seasons in addition to a spinoff. But she reportedly declined the opportunity when it was time for a remake.

McCurdy acknowledged that she occasionally still misses her mother, who passed away from cancer in 2013. Nevertheless, she did    admit that if her mother had remained alive, she would not have written her memoir because her “identity would still be determined by her.”

She posted in Instagram, “hi — i have a book coming out very soon. you can order it by clicking on the link in my bio. i worked very hard on this book. my mission was to write a good piece of non-fiction, and i think i’ve done that. i hope you’ll consider reading.”  ðŸ˜Š
