On Wednesday, celebrity Henry Cavill posted on social media that he has been fired from the role of America’s favorite Man of Steel. The celebrity actor who had recently announced that he would continue with the iconic role, had stepped down from another popular role–Geralt as he thought that he might not do justice to both the major roles. But, his recent announcement of stepping down from the Superman role has enraged fans as they believe he has lost not just one but two iconic roles, after new heads took over Warner Bros. DC Films.
The 39-year old actor posted on Instagram that the studio had told him to make the announcement of his “return back in October.” So, the news that he would no longer reprise the role of Superman wasn’t easy to announce but he added “that’s life.”
Cavill also wished the new heads James (Gunn) and Peter (Safran) and the rest of those who were “involved with the universe the best of luck, and happiest of fortunes.” He told those who stood by him through several years that “we could mourn for a bit” but they had to remember that “Superman is still around” and what the Man of Steel stood for still existed and the examples that he set would remain.
He concluded by saying, “My turn to wear the cape has passed, but what Superman stands for never will. It’s been a fun ride with you all, onwards and upwards!”
Henry Cavill played the role of Superman, in 2013 in Man of Steel; in 2016 in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and in 2017 in Justice League.

Fans have been extremely upset and took to social media to express their fury. Most of them commented on how Cavill had supposedly left the role of Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher to concentrate on the role of Superman and now that he had been fired from the iconic role, fans would miss out on seeing in him in both these roles: Superman and Geralt. Celebrity Liam Hemsworth has taken over the role of Geralt in Netflix’s The Witcher–Season 4.
On Thursday, Gunn tweeted that Henry Cavill would not play the role of Superman as they would focus “on an earlier part of Superman’s life” but said that they had “talked about a number of exciting possibilities” of working together in the future.
