Celebrity gymnast Olivia Dunne, professionally known as Livvy, is still processing the attention she is receiving, particularly following a police-involved incident in Salt Lake City. A large group of screaming male fans attended the Tigers’ season opener against Utah, garnering attention for the New Jersey native, a junior at LSU on a four-year athletic scholarship who was recovering from a leg injury.
The 20-year-old LSU gymnast, during an interview on The Today Show on Friday, expressed concern about some of the people who contact her on social media and generate threatening comments. She also revealed that the school contacted the police regarding an earlier incident, but did not elaborate.
The social media influencer makes seven figures from brand deals and receives NIL. She has nearly 10 million fans on social media. For those who might argue that her content, which features bikini photos, dance videos, and pictures of her performing gymnastics, is to blame, Dunne responded that a woman is not responsible for how a man looks at her or objectifies her.

According to Livvy, threatening remarks have been made about her. Some people do occasionally reach out, and Dunne said that was a little unsettling. She missed the first few weeks of the season because of an injury.
Former Olympic gymnast Samantha Peszek described the scene outside the Jon M. Huntsman Center Salt Lake City as “so scary and disturbing,” and she posted a video of Dunne’s supporters yelling her name. Teenage boys lined up to inquire about Dunne’s whereabouts, some holding signs pleading with the gymnast for pictures.

Due to the police presence at the gymnastics competition caused by the fan attention, LSU added new security measures. She said that they have a new security person who travels with them, and the athletes have some new rules to keep them safe. These include not going into the stands after competitions, Livvy said.
The celebrity athlete addressed the behavior of fans on social media after the LSU-Utah match, pleading with followers to “be respectful of the other gymnasts and the gymnastics community.”
