On Saturday, Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo shared a sweet image of him holding his baby girl in his arms. The black and white image of the footballer had the caption “Forever Love” followed by a heart emoji. The infant is wearing a knitted hat. Messages poured in from millions of friends and fans many of whom also shared heart emojis. The celebrity couple have not as yet announced the name of their daughter.
On April 18, Cristiano Ronaldo, 37 and partner Georgina Rodriguez, 28 shared the heartbreaking news that their infant son had passed away. However, they added that they were grateful that his twin, their daughter had made it.
Ronaldo had posted that only the birth of their “baby girl” gave them the “strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.” The footballer called their infant son their “angel” and said that they would always love him. Their son was stillborn.
After their infant son passed away, the family returned home with the new born baby girl on Thursday. The celebrity footballer updated his 430 million followers. He posted a photo where he cradled the tiny tot, with his partner Georgina, by his side as well as their four children.
He captioned the post: “Home sweet home. Gio and our baby girl are finally together with us. We want to thank everyone for all the kind words and gestures.” He added that their support and respect for his family was important and that they had felt the love. He also mentioned that it was the “time to be grateful for the life” that they had “welcomed into this world.”
Ronaldo and Georgina have a daughter Alana, who is four years old. The footballer also has three more children who were born through surrogacy: Cristiano Junior who is 11 years old and twins Eva and Mateo, who are four years old.
Ronaldo had missed a mid-week match when his team Manchester United played against Liverpool. Fans at Anfield held a minute of applause for the footballer and his family and sang “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”
Georgina also posted a picture where her partner raised his left arm to the sky in a tribute to the infant twin they had recently lost. This emotional gesture by Ronaldo was made during last Saturday’s match when the Manchester United striker scored against Arsenal.
