President Joe Biden will conduct a television interview with celebrity actress Drew Barrymore, which will air on his talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show, later this month. The White House announced Friday that President Barack Obama and First Lady Jill Biden would tape the interview later that afternoon. It will be broadcast on CBS on December 19. Drew Barrymore, star of “Scream,” has landed President Biden’s first television interview since the midterm elections last month. The actress shared a photo of herself outside the White House asking if anybody could guess who went to Washington. She was wearing a grey plaid pantsuit and a white blouse with a bow tie on social media. On her Facebook page, the actress and talk show host promoted the interview, Barrymore posed for a photo with a double peace sign. The festive wreaths adorning the White House windows peeked behind her.
This will be Biden’s first head-to-head since the president turned 80 years old and after the 2022 midterm elections, in which Biden’s Democratic Party enjoyed unprecedented success following the failure of a planned “red wave.”
His most recent TV appearance was with MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart in late October. He reunited with CNN’s Jake Tapper in mid-October, as the network tried out the prominent primetime anchor. Biden had previously appeared on a 60 Minutes segment, which, like Barrymore’s show, airs on CBS.
Since the midterm elections, Biden has held a press conference immediately following Election Day, as is customary, and answered questions alongside French President Emmanuel Macron ahead of last week’s state dinner with France. The celebrity’s show, dubbed “Optimism TV,” has been airing since September 2020. Fans are very excited.
