The news of the Basketball Hall of Fame legend Charles Barkley who has to date being a sportscaster appearing with longtime CBS host Gayle King in a new program was announced on TNT’s “NBA Tip-off.” It was described as a live show, with weekly discussions that will go on for an hour. Its premiere date was not mentioned. It will be called King Charles.

The NBA legend had indicated that he was willing to branch out from regular sports shows and venture into a new program. He has recently renewed his deal with the Discovery sports division of Warner Bros., with whom he has been working for years.
CBS signed off on a deal that would let their popular CBS morning program host Gayle King appear on a Primetime show on CNN. There is a new trend that allows anchors and journalists as well as sportscasters to appear on different channels but under certain conditions.
According to a report in Variety, Chris Licht, CEO of CNN said in a memo that the program would begin in fall 2023 and would continue into the following year. He also called Charles Barkley and Gayle King “two incredibly dynamic personalities.”

The outlet also shared comments from the hosts. The 11-time All-Star Charles Barkley said that the program would not be “clickbait.” He added, “We don’t want to say, ‘We’re a liberal, conservative, Republican, Democrat—that’s one of the things that’s already ruined television in general.”
Celebrity TV personality Gayle King said that the show would offer “a good conversation without tearing other people down.”
