The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections released a mug shot of “America’s Dad” Bill Cosby as a routine process. Inmates’ appearances are documented to reflect changes as they age as well as to reassure family members and friends. The photo was taken on September 4, 2020. Cosby’s verified account tweeted a blurry picture. The photo showed him in prison using a telephone and wearing a mask that had been pulled away from his chin. The accompanying text said, “This photo was taken by his publicist, Andrew Wyatt, during his first virtual video conference call with Mr. Cosby last week. We are posting this to reassure his family and supporters that he is doing ok during this pandemic.”

Readers will recall that Cosby was convicted of sexual assault. He is serving a 3-10 year prison term. He was the first renowned celebrity to be convicted in the #MeToo era. The eighty three year old actor was convicted in 2004, for sexually assaulting a woman after drugging her at his home, which is near Philadelphia.
Billy Cosby has cited systemic racism as he gets ready to fight the assault conviction. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has agreed to review the case with reference to two key issues by the end of the year.
