Welch’s representative said, “The legendary bombshell actress of film, television, and stage, passed away peacefully early [Wednesday] morning after a brief illness. “The 82-year-old actress burst into Hollywood in her initial roles in One Million Years, B.C. and Fantastic Voyage. Her career spanned over 50 years, starring in over thirty films and fifty television series and appearances. The Golden Globe winner, in more recent years, was involved in a very successful line of wigs. Raquel leaves behind her two children, son Damon Welch and her daughter, Tahnee Welch.”
Welsh appeared in the movie Fantastic Voyage from 1966 where she initially became well-known. She got a lucrative contract with 20th Century Fox thanks to her performance in the science fiction movie, which eventually led to her appearance in the same-year blockbuster One Million Years B.C. Welch, who claimed in 2017 that she nearly passed away during filming the British fantasy movie, only got three lines in the whole thing. But it was her portrayal of Loana in the movie’s poster wearing a “prehistoric” doeskin bikini that propelled her to fame.
Raquel Welch was born in 1940 and her official name was Jo-Raquel Tejada. She grew up in California, winning several beauty pageants. She became the local weather girl. She became popular two years later when she was featured in a skimpy deerskin two piece in the promotional stills of the fantasy movie One Million Years. She became a leading pin-up girl in the nation.
The celebrity legend has expressed her discomfort about how her body was portrayed and had said that she had not been brought up “to be a sex symbol, nor was it in her “nature to be one.” She added that the fact that she became a sex symbol was “probably the loveliest, most glamorous and fortunate misunderstanding.”
Raquel Welch’s career continued for more than half a century. She appeared in over 30 movies and 50 TV shows. Several celebrity stars, who acted with her, paid tribute to her on social media after her death. Some of them included Reese Witherspoon Viola Davis, Paul Feig and Miss Piggy and Disney’s The Muppet Show.
Raquel leaves behind her two children, daughter Tahnee Welch and son Damon Welch. Tahnee and Damon Welch, Welch’s two now-adult children, are her only heirs. Damon is sixty-three and has also worked as an actor, while Tahnee is sixty-one and has worked as a model and actress.
