Carlee Russell, who turned twenty-six just a few days ago, is accused of fabricating an event and falsely reporting it to law officials, according to her attorney. Law enforcement wants some type of financial restitution for the time, money and resources spent by the police in this case.
In connection with her staged disappearance two weeks ago, Carlee Russell was taken into custody and released on bond on Friday afternoon. Russell, who turned 26 just a few days ago, is accused of fabricating an event and falsely reporting it to law officials, according to her attorney.
Both crimes are misdemeanors that carry two charges each with a $1,000 bond.
The runaway bride case, also a fake kidnaping case, Jennifer Wilbanks was made to pay a significant sum of money to pay back for the police efforts in her faked search for her.

Wilbanks repeated the untrue statements that were disproved by FBI interrogation, which led to a felony charge of supplying false information to law enforcement, punishable by up to five years in jail.
Wilbanks entered a no contest plea to this allegation on June 2, 2005. She received a two-year probationary term, 120 hours of community service, and $2,250 in restitution to the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office as part of her plea agreement. A misdemeanor charge of submitting a fake police report was dropped as part of the plea agreement. When Wilbanks’ probation expired, her criminal record was sealed.
The BBC reports that Jennifer Wilbanks received $500,000 for selling the media rights to a New York City corporation for her story. The cost of the search for Wilbanks, which came to $43,000, was not fully repaid. In 2010, Greg Hutson, the owner of a landscaping company, captured Wilbanks’ heart. Greg Hutson filed for divorce in March in an uncontested dissolution of marriage, according to online court documents.
