The Los Angeles Thieves cruised to a 3-1 victory on Sunday to hand the Atlanta FaZe their first loss of qualifying for the Call of Duty League’s Major III.

Los Angeles opened the match with a 250-172 victory on Mercado Las Almas Hardpoint before the FaZe knotted things at 1-1 courtesy of a 6-1 triumph on El Asilo Search & Destroy. The Thieves then prevailed on Breenbergh Hotel Control (3-2) and Zarqwa Hydroelectric Hardpoint (250-195) to drop Atlanta’s record to 1-1.

Sam “Octane” Larew led Los Angeles’ all-American squad with 74 kills and a plus-1.07 kills-deaths ratio, while Dylan “Envoy” Hannon also had 74 kills. Tyler “aBeZy” Pharris paced Atlanta with a game-high 76 kills and a plus-1.09 K-D ratio.

Major III, which will include all 12 Call of Duty League teams, will be hosted by OpTic Texas March 9-12 in Arlington, Texas. Qualifying for tournament weekend runs through March 5.

The Toronto Ultra also pulled off a 3-1 victory, getting the best of the Vegas Legion. Toronto got off to a fast start, taking Breenbergh Hotel Hardpoint 250-148 before falling 6-5 on El Asilo Search & Destroy. But after winning 3-2 on Breenbergh Hotel Control, the Ultra locked down the victory with a 250-196 drubbing on Zarqwa Hydroelectric.

Three of Toronto’s four players finished with positive K-D ratios, with the United States’ Thomas “Scrap” Ernst leading the way with 81 kills and a plus-1.37 K-D ratio.

In Sunday’s other match, the New York Subliners swept the Florida Mutineers behind a 250-228 win on Zarqwa Hydroelectric Hardpoint, a 6-2 showing on Breenbergh Hotel Search & Destroy and a 3-0 rout on El Asilo Control. New York’s Paco “HyDra” Rusiewiez of France finished with a match-high 63 kills to go along with a plus-1.62 K-D ratio.

Action picks up again on Friday with three matches:
–Atlanta FaZe vs. London Royal Ravens
–Toronto Ultra vs. OpTic Texas
–Los Angeles Guerrillas vs. Boston Breach
