The Seattle Surge moved into third place with their second straight win as Week 3 qualifying for the Call of Duty League’s Major III began on Friday.

The Surge (3-1) notched a 3-1 win over the London Royals Ravens (1-3).

The day’s other two matches involved teams that ended up at the bottom of the standings with two days of qualifying remaining. The Los Angeles Guerrillas (1-3) produced a 3-2 win over the Florida Mutineers (1-3), and the Vegas Legion (2-2) kept the Minnesota Rokkr (0-4) winless thanks to a 3-2 decision.

Major III, which includes all 12 Call of Duty League teams, will be hosted by OpTic Texas from Thursday through March 12 in Arlington, Texas. Qualifying for tournament weekend ends Sunday.

On Friday, the Surge started with a 250-147 victory on Zarqwa Hydroelectric Hardpoint and added a 6-1 win on Embassy Search & Destroy. The Royal Ravens fended off a sweep with a 3-1 win on Al Bagra Fortress Control, but Seattle clinched with a 250-218 victory on Al Bagra Fortress.

Amer “Pred” Zulbeari of Australia led the Surge with 81 kills and a kills/deaths ratio of plus-1.23. Matthew “Skrapz” Marshall of Great Britain posted 71 kills and was the only London player with a positive ratio at plus-1.04.

The Guerrillas and the Mutineers went the distance, trading wins for the first four maps. Florida scored a 250-245 victory on Zarqwa Hydroelectric Hardpoint, but Los Angeles responded with a 6-5 win on Mercado Las Almas Search & Destroy.

The Mutineers again moved in front with a 3-1 victory on Breenbergh Hotel Control, but the Guerrillas tied the match 250-239 on Al Bagra Fortress Hardpoint. In the deciding map, Embassy Search & Destroy, Los Angeles broke through with a 6-4 victory.

Joseph “JoeDeceives” Romero led the Guerrillas’ all-U.S. lineup with 97 kills and a K/D ratio of plus-1.01, while Colt “Havok” McLendon finished at 107 and plus-1.32 to pace the Mutineers, who also fielded all U.S. players.

The Rokkr twice took the lead against the Legion but couldn’t prevail.

Minnesota grabbed a 250-209 win on Zarqwa Hydroelectric Hardpoint, but Vegas countered with a 6-4 victory on Mercado Las Almas Search & Destroy. The Rokkr again moved on top with a 3-0 conquest on Breenbergh Hotel Control, only to see the Legion post a 250-180 decision on Mercado Las Almas Hardpoint. Then on the deciding map, Al Bagra Fortress Search & Destroy, Vegas won 6-1.
