CALLOFDUTY News: Rokkr sweep one, lose one at CDL Major V qualifying

The Minnesota Rokkr rolled to a sweep in one match and dropped a second Saturday in qualifying for the Call of Duty League’s Major V.

The Rokkr defeated the London Royal Ravens 3-0 but then dropped a 3-1 decision to the Boston Breach.

In other action, the Vegas Legion defeated the New York Subliners 3-2 and the Toronto Ultra dropped the Los Angeles Thieves 3-1.

Major V qualifying, which includes all 12 Call of Duty League teams, runs through May 21, with each victory worth 10 CDL points. Double elimination bracket play is scheduled for May 25-28 in Toronto, with the championship team receiving $200,000 from the $500,000 prize pool plus 65 CDL points.

On Saturday, the Rokkr made quick work of the Ravens — 250-227 on Zarqwa Hydroelectric Hardpoint, 6-3 on Mercado Las Almas Search & Destroy and 3-2 on Himmelmatt Expo Control.

But the Breach upended the Rokkr in their other match. The Breach opened with a 250-189 win on Breenbergh Hotel Hardpoint before the Rokkr took Breenbergh Hotel Search & Destroy 6-5. However, Boston clinched with a 3-1 win on El Asilo Control and 250-213 win on Zarqwa Hydroelectric Hardpoint.

Vegas opened with a 250-141 win on Al Bagra Fortress Hardpoint before the Subliners took Mercado Las Almas Search & Destroy 6-5. Vegas won 3-0 on Himmelmatt Expo Control before the Subliners took Zarqwa Hydroelectric Hardpoint 250-90. The Legion clinched on Breenbergh Hotel Search & Destroy, 6-4.

The Ultra rallied to defeat the Thieves after dropping Al Bagra Fortress Hardpoint, 250-244. The rest of the match belonged to the Ultra — 6-3 on Embassy Search & Destroy, 3-2 on El Asilo Control and 250-185 on Embassy Hardpoint.

Qualifying action continues Sunday with three matches:
–Florida Mutineers vs. Los Angeles Guerrillas
–New York Subliners vs. Los Angeles Thieves
–Atlanta Faze vs. OpTic Texas
