OpTic Texas edged the New York Subliners 3-2 on Sunday in a meeting of undefeated teams at the Call of Duty League’s Stage 2 Major qualifiers.

Both squads entered the day at 6-0 while eyeing a perfect finish to qualifying action. New York was well on its way to an easy victory, winning 250-224 on Rio Hardpoint and 6-4 on Terminal Search & Destroy, but OpTic then stormed back.

Texas took Karachi Control 3-0 before prevailing 250-191 on Sub Base Hardpoint and 6-5 on Karachi Search & Destroy to complete the comeback.

Even though OpTic got the win, all four of its players finished with negative kill-death ratios. Canadian Brandon “Dashy” Otell and Anthony “Shotzzy” Cuevas-Castro of the United States each finished with a team-high 82 kills for Texas.

American Daunte “Sib” Gray racked up a match-high 90 kills for the Subliners. He finished with a plus-1.17 K-D.

In other action Sunday, the Los Angeles Guerrillas downed the Atlanta FaZe 3-2 and the Boston Breach swept the Seattle Surge 3-0.

Los Angeles won the first two maps before Atlanta used a 3-2 win on Highrise Control and a 232-151 victory on Invasion Hardpoint to send the teams to a fifth map, Invasion. Playing Search & Destroy, the Guerrillas doubled up the FaZe 6-3.

Meanwhile, Boston coasted, capping its triumph by blanking Seattle 3-0 on Invasion Control.

All 12 CDL teams played seven qualifying matches ahead of the Stage 2 Major, which starts Thursday and runs through next Sunday in Miami. Every team advanced to the double-elimination tournament, with the qualifying matches determining seeding. The top eight teams in the qualifying standings got a bye in the first round of the tournament.

Each qualifier win was worth 10 points. The prize pool for the tournament (money and CDL points) has yet to be announced.

Four matches are set for Thursday:
–OpTic Texas vs. Miami Heretics (winners bracket Round 1)
–Toronto Ultra vs. Vegas Legion (winners bracket Round 1)
–New York Subliners vs. Boston Breach (winners bracket Round 1)
–Atlanta FaZe vs. Los Angeles Thieves (winners bracket Round 1)

Final seeding for Stage 2 Major based on qualifying results:

5. Vegas Legion
6. Los Angeles Thieves
