OpTic Texas and Atlanta FaZe maintained their hot starts during CDL Stage 3 Major qualifying, as each squad earned 3-1 wins on Saturday.

OpTic was a whisker away from earning the sweep against the Los Angeles Guerrillas in improving to 4-1, good enough to separate them from the pack somewhat ahead of three other teams with a single loss at 3-1 in the standings.

The Texas squad grabbed a 250-223 win on 6 Star Hardpoint and a 6-4 win on 6 Star Search and Destroy. The Guerrillas rallied for a 3-2 win on Highrise Control, before OpTic closed it out with a 250-238 win on Karachi Hardpoint.

The FaZe meanwhile dropped a rare map, just their third in six matches, but nevertheless dispatched the Carolina Royal Ravens in short order to improve to 6-0 overall.

FaZe won 250-227 on Karachi Hardpoint before getting upended 6-5 on Invasion Search and Destroy. Carolina’s upset bid was short-lived though, with Atlanta rolling 3-1 on Highrise Control and 250-180 on Vista Hardpoint.

The New York Subliners, Saturday’s other victors, were the only team to pull off a sweep, dumping the Las Vegas Legion 3-0.

New York won 250-222 on Karachi Hardpoint, 6-4 on Highrise Search and Destroy and 3-1 on Invasion Control to improve to 3-3 and move up to fifth in the standings.

All 12 CDL teams will play seven qualifying matches ahead of the Stage 3 Major, scheduled for May 16-19 in Toronto. Every team will advance to the double-elimination tournament, with the qualifying matches determining seeding.

Each qualifier win is worth 10 points. The prize pool for the tournament (money and CDL points) has yet to be announced.

The Toronto Ultra won the Stage 1 Major in January. The Atlanta FaZe won the Stage 2 Major in March.

Qualifying continues Sunday with three matches:
–Miami Heretics vs. Seattle Surge
–Toronto Ultra vs. Minnesota Rokkr
–Boston Breach vs. Los Angeles Thieves

Call of Duty League Stage 3 Major qualifying standings (points, match win-loss record, map win-loss differential):
