Nearly 20 pro sports teams in California have teamed to donate millions of dollars to assist with disaster relief amid the deadly wildfires in the Los Angeles area.

As of Monday, the 12 teams in the Los Angeles area had pledged $8 million. Up north in the Bay Area, seven teams are collaborating on a contribution, with the dollar amount not disclosed.

In Southern California, the teams to assist with the relief effort are the Los Angeles Rams, Chargers, Dodgers, Angels, Lakers, Clippers, Kings, Sparks and Galaxy, LA Football Club, Angel City FC and the Anaheim Ducks.

The group also is teaming with Fanatics to hand out more than $3 million worth of goods to victims of the fires.

The Bay Area group consists of the Golden State Warriors and Valkyries, San Francisco Giants and 49ers, San Jose Sharks and Earthquakes, and Bay City FC.

“While we may be rivals on the field with Los Angeles, we are united in our commitment to supporting our communities,” said Robert Davis, the Earthquakes’ vice president of community relations.

“Joining the Bay Area Host Committee and our fellow Bay Area teams to facilitate relief efforts for L.A. is a privilege, and we’re eager to do our part to help those in need.”

The donations will benefit a variety of organizations that include the American Red Cross, World Central Kitchen, Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, California Fire Foundation and local animal rescue organizations.

Fires continue to burn Tuesday, with forecasters warning winds are expected to gust through noon Wednesday. So far, at least 24 people have been killed in the fires, which have burned more than 60 parched square miles and destroyed more than 12,000 homes and other structures, CBS News reported.
