C.J. Cox powers No. 20 Purdue in rout of Nebraska

C.J. Cox scored 23 points to lift No. 20 Purdue to a convincing 104-68 win over Nebraska on Sunday in West Lafayette, Ind.

Cox went 9 of 11 from the field overall and 5 of 7 from 3-point range for Purdue (13-4, 5-1 Big Ten), which has won five straight games.

Fletcher Loyer scored 19 points on 5-of-6 shooting from 3-point range and Trey Kaufman-Renn scored 15 points.

Myles Colvin came off the bench to score 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the 3-point line, and Braden Smith dished out 14 assists to go with eight points for the Boilermakers.

Purdue, which entered the game shooting 38.1 percent from 3-point range, made 19 of 33 shots (57.6 percent) from the arc and had 13 different players score at least one point.

The Boilermakers also finished with a 33-20 rebounding advantage.

Connor Essegian came off the bench to score 17 points for Nebraska (12-4, 2-3), which committed 17 turnovers and shot just 6 of 27 (22.2 percent) from 3-point range. Juwan Gary added 10 points.

The Cornhuskers have not won at Purdue since 1957.

Leading 45-28 at halftime, Purdue opened up the second half with a 12-3 surge and expanded its lead to 57-31 with 16:22 remaining following a basket by Cox.

With 8:46 remaining, the Boilermakers built their lead to 30 at 83-53 following a 3-pointer by Cox.

Purdue reached the 100-point mark with 1:53 remaining on a 3-pointer by Brian Waddell that gave the Boilermakers a 101-64 lead.

Purdue jumped on Nebraska quickly, going on a 14-0 run in the first half to take a 24-7 lead with 11:10 remaining until halftime.

The Boilermakers grew their lead to 21 at 39-18 with 4:08 to go in the first half after a three-point play by Kaufman-Renn.

In the first half, Purdue shot 64.3 percent from the field overall and made 8 of 13 attempts from 3-point range.
