Michael Ajayi and Finley Bizjack each scored 20 points to lead Butler to a 94-69 victory over Wright State in Indianapolis on Friday afternoon.

Ajayi added eight rebounds to lead the Bulldogs (6-1). Yohan Traore scored 16 points off the bench.

Wright State (4-4) was led by Solomon Callaghan with 17 points. TJ Burch added 13 while Michael Cooper poured in 12.

The home team faced some struggles in the first half and saw Wright State take the lead into the halftime break 32-29.

Butler’s struggles in the half came down to free throws (6-of-12), nine turnovers committed and eight offensive rebounds allowed.

Butler announced before the game that both starting point guard Jalen Jackson (ankle) and Efeosa Oliogu-Elabor (ankle) would miss the game.

A 15-5 run for Butler to start the half put the Bulldogs up by double-digits at the first media timeout of the half.

That lead eventually grew to nearly 20 points at the following media timeout as Bizjack and Ajayi scored 22 of Butler’s 36 points in the first 10 minutes of the half.

Wright State didn’t go out quietly, making 9 of 11 shots from the field to cut the deficit to 12 at the final media timeout.

The Bulldogs then closed it out, going on a quick 6-0 run out of that timeout to put the game out of reach.
