Milwaukee Bucks guard/forward Pat Connaughton will be sidelined for approximately three weeks with a right calf strain.
He missed the last two preseason games with soreness. An MRI on Friday revealed the extent of the injury.
The Bucks tip off the regular season Thursday against the host Philadelphia 76ers. Connaughton would miss at least nine games based on the timetable announced Sunday, with his earliest return on Nov. 7 at Atlanta.
Connaughton, 29, averaged 9.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 65 games (19 starts) with the Bucks last season. He shot 39.5 percent from 3-point range and was third on the team with 146 made 3-pointers.
A second-round pick in 2015, Connaughton has career averages of 5.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 18.5 minutes in 417 games (35 starts) with the Portland Trail Blazers (2015-18) and Milwaukee.
