Brice Williams’ season-high 30 points and a late surge propelled Nebraska to an 85-68 win over Indiana on Friday night in Lincoln, Neb.

Nebraska (7-2, 1-1 Big Ten) outscored Indiana 17-1 over the last 6 1/2 minutes, with Williams scoring eight of those points. Williams, who finished 10-of-15 shooting from the field, added six rebounds and five assists, while Juwan Gary (14), Connor Essegian (13) and Andrew Morgan (10) also scored in double figures.

Bouncing back from a blowout loss at Michigan State last Saturday, Nebraska beat Indiana (8-3, 1-1) for the fourth straight time. The Huskers shot well all night, with 30 makes in 49 attempts (61.2 percent).

The Hoosiers — who had won four in a row — got 20 points from Washington State transfer Myles Rice but made just 35.4 percent of their shots from the field. Malik Renau scored 12, Trey Galloway added 10 and Oumar Ballo grabbed 11 rebounds to go with his eight points.

Gary’s follow of a missed reverse layup put Nebraska ahead 58-49 with 13:45 to play. But Rice scored 13 straight Indiana points with two layups, two jumpers, two free throws and a 3-pointer, and his layup off a turnover tied the score at 62 with 10:35 to play.

The Hoosiers never took the lead in the second half, however, as Nebraska answered their runs and used a late 10-0 surge to take control. Williams and Gary sunk 3-pointers to give Nebraska a 78-67 lead with 3:31 left.

Nebraska scored the game’s first eight points and led by as many as 10in the first half. But Indiana got back in it and took its first lead at the 11:37 mark of the half at 20-19.

Ballo dunked off a lob from Galloway with 5:59 to play, and the Hoosiers tied their biggest lead of the half at 33-29.

The Cornhuskers used an 8-0 run to regain the lead and took a 44-41 advantage into halftime. Williams had 14 first-half points, helping Nebraska make 15 of 23 field-goal attempts (65.2 percent).

Reneau led Indiana with nine points at the break.
