Joshua Jefferson recorded 19 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals to lead No. 12 Iowa State to a 76-56 victory over Cincinnati on Wednesday afternoon in the second round of the Big 12 tournament at Kansas City.

Tamin Lipsey scored 16 points and Milan Momcilovic added 13 for the fifth-seeded Cyclones (24-8). Dishon Jackson registered 10 points and a career-best 15 rebounds.

Jizzle James scored 17 points but was just 6-of-20 shooting for 13th-seeded Cincinnati (18-15). Josh Reed added 10 points for the Bearcats.

Iowa State, the fifth seed, will face fourth-seeded BYU (24-8) in Thursday’s quarterfinals. The No. 17-ranked Cougars have won eight straight games.

Kansas 98, UCF 94 (OT)

Hunter Dickinson had six of his 23 points in overtime as the Jayhawks escaped with a victory over the Knights.

Kansas will face No. 3 seed Arizona in the quarterfinals on Thursday. The Jayhawks defeated the visiting Wildcats 83-76 in the regular-season finale on Saturday. The sixth-seeded Jayhawks (21-11) were led by Zeke Mayo with 24 points. AJ Storr scored a season-high 19 and KJ Adams Jr. added 15.

The 14th-seeded Knights (17-16) were led by Keyshawn Hall with 25 points. Darius Johnson scored 22 and Moustapha Thiam and Jordan Ivy-Curry had 13 apiece.

Colorado 67, West Virginia 60

Reserve Elijah Malone scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half to help the Buffaloes defeat the Mountaineers.

It was the second straight upset for the Buffaloes, who knocked off TCU in the first round. The Buffs, who used a huge second-half run to seize control, will face top-seeded Houston in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

The 16th-seeded Buffaloes (14-19) also got 13 points from RJ Smith off the bench and Andrej Jakimovski tallied 11. Eighth-seeded West Virginia (19-13) was led by Javon Small with 23 points. Toby Okani added 11.

Baylor 70, Kansas State 56

V.J. Edgecombe scored 19 points and Jayden Nunn added 18 off the bench as the Bears rolled to a win over the Wildcats.

The Bears (19-13) advance to play second-seeded Texas Tech in the tournament quarterfinals on Thursday. Baylor is expected to be chosen as an at-large team for the NCAA Tournament if it does not automatically qualify by winning this event. Norchad Omier added 12 points, all in the first half, and 14 rebounds for the Bears.

Kansas State (16-17) is likely done for the season, finishing with its worst record since a 14-17 campaign in 2021-22. David N’Guessan led Kansas State with 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting. Dug McDaniel added 14 points for the Wildcats, and Max Jones chipped in 10.
