President Joe Biden has taken an unprecedented step in his 2024 presidential campaign. His campaign joined Truth Social, former president Donald Trump’s social media platform. The step has been taken to meet voters who could potentially turn, to meet voters who follow the social media platform and also because Biden’s campaign thought that it was funny. Many web fans have mixed responses.
The first post from the Biden campaign has the handle BidenHQ on Truth Social. It says that it is a “project of Biden-Harris 2024.” The banner image reads, “the malarkey ends here” and the profile image features the meme of Biden as “Dark Brandon.” It follows only one account that of Donald Trump, to date. The first post from this handle reads, “Well. Let’s see how this goes. Converts welcome!”
Although the account was opened as a humorous one, it also has a subtle aim to reach conservatives who might turn democrat. The initial posts that have been featured in this handle show posts of conservatives who gave Biden credit or criticized Trump. They include posts from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, former Governor Nikki Haley and Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis. More posts are expected to follow.
Earlier, Biden’s campaign posted the news of them joining the social media platform in a post on another social platform that is veering towards conservatism, according to several reports. It posted, “We just joined Truth Social, mostly because we thought it would be very funny.”
The post also wrote, “Follow us there for truths and retruths or whatever they call them.”
Some web fans of Biden have said that they will not join Truth Social while some might join in jest.
President Joe Biden’s team has confirmed that the account is official. It is taking its campaign to its opponent’s virtual backyard as Donald Trump remains the most popular Republican, despite several cases against him and popular opponents including Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis trail behind him.
Democrats are expected to nominate Joe Biden in the primaries while Republicans are expected to nominate Donald Trump. A repeat of Biden versus Trump will be the most likely presidential battle in 2024.
