Best Buys (BBY) has recalled about 930,000 Insignia pressure cookers in the U.S. On October 26, 2023, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC) detailed the recall on its site. It said that the remedy for the burn hazard was to replace the cooker. Best Buy received 31 incident reports, of which seventeen were of burn injuries, of which some were second-degree as well as severe burns.
According to the USCPSC some Insignia pressure cooker models had incorrect volume markings in the inner pot. This sometimes leads to consumers overfilling the pot. Following this, hot food and liquids were able to get ejected at the time of venting of these cookers when consumers used the quick release method or when they opened it when there was pressure in the cooker, and this posed a burn hazard.
Consumers must stop using these pressure cookers and contact Best Buy for free replacements of both the inner pot and the floating valve. They can contact Best Buy through a toll-free phone number or visit the company’s site and click on the “Pressure Cooker Recall” banner that is on the home page. They can also go to “Orders & Purchases at the bottom of the page and click on “Product Recalls.”

Pressure cookers with model numbers of NS-MC60SS8, NS-MC60SS9, or NS-MC80SS9.
Inner cooker pots with model numbers NS-MCRP6NS9 and NS-MCRP6SS9 are sold separately as replacements.
It also provided other details, including the capacity of the cookers, which is six and eight quarts. It also said that these electric pressure cookers had the brand name INSIGNIA in front and more.
The CPSC also gave general advice to consumers, cautioning them not to fill the inner pot beyond two-thirds of its capacity when it is used as a pressure cooker. The agency also asked them to ensure that the lid is fully locked before they begin cooking under pressure. They also advised consumers to ensure that the floating lock valve had dropped before they attempted to open the lid.
