Former First Lady Michelle Obama is 58. As the popular black female icon celebrated her birthday, on Monday, both she and former president Obama posted pictures of the celebrations. He posted a photo of the couple, while she posted photos of herself in front of a gorgeous cake as well as a video that showed her having fun.
Barack Obama posted a photo of both of them standing in a balcony. The backdrop appears to be taken against a beautiful sunset at their favorite destination: Hawaii, which is Barack Obama’s home state. The couple had visited Hawaii over Christmas and the New Year.
The 60-year old former president wrote in his tweet: “Happy birthday, Michelle. He then described her as “My love, my partner, my best friend…”
Meanwhile, Michelle Obama also posted her birthday celebrations on Instagram. She shared a video of her dancing to the Stevie Wonder track “Happy Birthday.” She was in front of a huge cake, with candles. She looked relaxed and happy as she grooved to the music.
Michelle Obama donned a simple black shirt that was worn under a black, gray and white robe. She was makeup free and had pulled back her thick, curly hair with a black hairband. She has simple accessories including her engagement and wedding ring. She wore simple diamond studs in her ears and a beaded bracelet in her wrist.
Michelle Obama thanked all the people who wished her in her post. She thanked everyone for their outpouring of love through text, email or social media. She said that “every birthday message” meant a lot to her and that she was grateful that she had “so many people cheering” her on. She also said that she was “looking forward to seeing” what the “upcoming year” had in store.
