After the fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust celebrity actor Alec Baldwin, who was rehearsing with the prop gun that fired a live bullet and killed her, texted widower Matt Hutchins. The celebrity star’s texts seem to suggest that the gun having live ammunition despite being called cold (cold means the ammunition has blanks and not live bullets) was an act of sabotage.
New Mexico Sheriff’s Office released 551 pages of documents, on Friday. These included texts by Alec Baldwin, the star of the Western shot in New Mexico, to Matt Hutchins, the husband of the late cinematographer Halyna who died in hospital, while director Joel Souza who was also hit by the bullet was released from hospital; after being treated for his injuries.
Within weeks after the fatal shooting Alec Baldwin’s text read, “I will tell you that among the more significant and salient points I put out there was that the gun WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE FIRED in that camera angle.”
Another text message from Baldwin to Hutchins read, “The Santa Fe Sheriff’s office may lack both the skill and the will to properly investigate the sabotage angle. I’m told their agenda is to write it off as an accident and throw it to the civil courts. And yet, the more information that is presented to me about certain anomalies on that day, the more open minded I become.”
After receiving texts from Baldwin a report from the investigative file released by the Santa Fe Sheriff’s office said that Hutchins’ attorney finally sent Baldwin a “cease and desist” letter.
In October, the Santa Fe Sheriff’s office completed their investigations and handed over the findings to First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies. Her office will decide on whom they will charge for Halyna Hutchins’ death.
DA Carmack-Altwies said that up to four people can be charged and has not ruled out celebrity actor Alec Baldwin from the list. Baldwin has denied wrongdoing and said that crew members at the set of Rust were negligent.

This cross claims suit was made as he was wrongly named as a perpetrator of the tragedy that unfolded on the set of Western Rust shot in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
