No. 2 seed Tommy Paul outlasted J.J. Wolf 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (2) in an all-American quarterfinal clash on Thursday at the Rothesay International in Eastbourne, Great Britain.

Paul squandered a 4-1 lead in the decisive set but took control in the tiebreak to finish off Wolf in two hours and 18 minutes. Paul finished with 18 aces and 55 winners against just 12 unforced errors, compared to 28 winners and 11 unforced errors by Wolf.

Paul’s opponent in the semifinals of the ATP 250 grass-court event will be unseeded Frenchman Gregoire Barrere, a 7-5, 7-6 (2) winner against eighth-seeded Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic. Kecmanovic led 5-3 in the first set and 3-1 in the second set.

Mackenzie McDonald and No. 4 seed Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina will meet in the other semifinal.

McDonald held off Sweden’s Mikael Ymer 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, while Cerundolo converted all four break points and eliminated China’s Zhizhen Zhang 6-2, 6-3 in 69 minutes.
