ATP News: Novak Djokovic withdraws from Paris Masters

Novak Djokovic announced that he will no longer participate in the Paris Masters, which begins Monday.

The seven-time winner of the ATP 1000 event did not give a reason for the withdrawal.

“Dear Paris, unfortunately I’ll not compete at this year’s Paris Masters,” the 38-year-old Serbian star posted to social media. “I have amazing memories and great success over the years, especially being able to conquer the title seven times.”

Djokovic appeared to be struggling with a left leg injury when he retired from his match against Taylor Fritz at the Six Kings Slam exhibition last week at Saudi Arabia. The 24-time Grand Slam champion also appeared to be slowed by an injury when he lost to Valentin Vacherot in the semifinals of the Shanghai Masters on Oct. 11.

As the season comes to a close, Djokovic still appears lined up for the ATP 250 event in Athens, Greece, from Nov. 2-8, as well as the season-ending ATP Finals in Turin, Italy, from Nov. 9-16.
