The Astros acquired infielder-outfielder Mauricio Dubon from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for minor league catcher Michael Papierski on Saturday.
Dubon, 27, was batting .239 in 21 games with the Giants this season.
In 179 career games — two of them with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2019 and the rest with the Giants — he has a .258 average with 15 home runs and 58 RBIs.
Papierski, 26, had been with the Triple-A Sugar Land Space Cowboys, where he hit .211 with one homer and 15 RBIs in 26 games. He has a .220 in five minor league seasons and has never appeared in a major league game.
The Giants are assigning Papierski, who also plays first base, to Triple-A Sacramento.
Also Saturday, the Giants recalled infielder Donovan Walton from Sacramento. They acquired him from the Seattle Mariners earlier this week.
In 12 games with Triple-A Tacoma this season, he hit .294 with one home run and five RBIs.
Walton, 27, appeared in 37 games with the Mariners (2019-22) and had a .196 batting average.
