Olympic bronze medalist Asher Hong turned in one dominant performance after another to capture his second men’s all-around title on Saturday at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships in New Orleans.

Hong, a rising senior at Stanford, won with an overall score of 170.020 — a 7.465 margin over second place. The 21-year-old also earned gold medals on vault (29.594), floor exercise (two-day combined total of 30.016) and still rings (29.286) and collected silver on parallel bars (28.100).

Frederick Richard, who attends Michigan, was second in all-around with a total of 162.555, and Fuzzy Benas of Oklahoma was third with 162.310.

Hong, who also won the U.S. title in 2023, and Richard were teammates on the bronze medal-winning U.S. team last year at the Paris Olympics.

Brody Malone, a two-time Olympian and the 2024 national champion, won parallel bars (28.150) but competed in only four events this week. Taylor Burkhart of Stanford won on high bar (28.960), and Patrick Hoopes of the U.S. Air Force Academy earned gold on pommel horse (31.300).

The U.S. team was announced for the Senior Men’s World Championships on Oct. 19-25 in Jakarta, Indonesia. Hong, Hoopes, Burkhart and Malone are joined by Brandon Dang of Illinois, Kameron Nelson of Ohio State and Donnell Whittenburg (EVO Gym). The competition is for individuals, with only all-around and events contested but no team standings.

The women’s competition will conclude on Sunday when event and all-around champions will be determined.
