  • Apple democratizes flagship features by equipping the $599 iPhone 17e with the powerful A19 chip and doubling its base storage to 256GB.
  • The iPad Air receives a substantial performance injection with the M4 processor, delivering a 30% speed increase while maintaining its existing design and pricing structure.
  • Both devices prioritize user experience through enhanced durability—with improved glass on the iPhone—and cutting-edge connectivity via the new C1X modem.

Apple has officially expanded its hardware lineup with the introduction of the iPhone 17e and a revamped iPad Air, signaling a significant shift in its mid-tier strategy. The Cupertino-based tech giant is targeting budget-conscious consumers and creative professionals alike by bringing premium performance features to more accessible price points without sacrificing core innovation.

The new iPhone 17e serves as the gateway device to the iPhone 17 family, strategically positioned below the flagship models with a starting price of $599. While maintaining the popular 6.1-inch form factor, Apple has equipped this variant with several upgrades typically reserved for higher-tier devices. The integration of the powerful A19 processor and the advanced C1X modem promises enhanced connectivity speeds and seamless multitasking capabilities.

Durability sees a notable improvement with the introduction of tougher glass protection, while MagSafe technology finally arrives on this budget model. Storage capacity has been doubled to 256GB as the new baseline, addressing a common consumer pain point. Available in pink, black, and white finishes, the device will be available for preorder beginning March 4, with retail availability slated for March 11.

In parallel, Apple has injected new life into its tablet lineup by upgrading the iPad Air with the formidable M4 chip. Retaining its familiar design and the same starting price points—$599 for the 11-inch model and $799 for the 13-inch version—the update focuses squarely on performance gains. Apple claims the new silicon delivers a 30% boost in speed over its predecessor, positioning the device as a formidable tool for digital creators and productivity users. Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, emphasized the device’s transformative potential, highlighting the combination of M4 performance, advanced AI capabilities, and the forthcoming iPadOS 26 features as compelling reasons for users to upgrade.
