Today, February 18, 2021 is the day when viewers who were looking forward to watching Apple TV programs on Google, can see these shows on Google’s 2020 Chromecast. In December, Apple had announced that its streaming app, which gives access to its Apple TV+ originals would also be available on Chromecast with Google TV. Now this announcement has become a reality.
Owners of the $50 Chromecast device now have access to Apple TV originals. Two of the shows Ted Lasso, The Morning Show and For All Mankind, which are extremely popular, will be a part of Google TV’s recommendations and search results.
Another noteworthy feature is the ability to add original shows and films from Apple to Google TV’s universal Watchlist.
Apple TV is also obtaining Google Assistant integration on Chromecast. This means that a viewer can use a voice command to start watching Apple’s original shows.
Viewers can not only watch original Apple TV shows but can also easily stream movie/TV show rentals and purchases directly from Apple by using its app. Your Apple TV add on subscriptions such as CBS All Access, Showtime and many others will also be available on the app on Chromecast with Google TV.
Google’s director of media and entertainment Jonathan Zepp said that, in addition to Chromecast with Google, the Apple TV app will also be available on Google TVs from Sony and TCL.
This partnership between Google and App will give viewers large choices, improve integration between different operating systems and add synergy. It could also bring in more viewers to Apple’s exclusive and original shows which had hereby been limited to those who had Apple devices. It will also give Google TV users access to a wider variety of original programs and shows.
Netflix, another huge streaming service, has decided not to be a part of the Watchlist after Chromecast was released. It is keeping this type of functionality within its app. In November 9to5Google said that the Google TV mobile app has stopped including Netflix recommendations.
