Amanda Seyfried is all set in the role of Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes in “The Dropout.” She has spoken about her efforts to get under the skin of the role and not just about the way the ex-CEO had dressed in a manner similar to Steve Jobs and adopted similar mannerisms. The show will premier on March 3, on Hulu followed by weekly episodes on the streaming platform. A trailer has been released.
The series has a star studded cast including Naveen Andrews, Kate Burton, Laurie Metcalfe and many, many others. The showrunner is Elizabeth Meriwether. According to reports, Seyfried said that she had not been able to get Holmes’ different voice, 100 percent correct but Meriwether is full of praise for her portrayal of Holmes.
Hulu is producing an eight part drama series of the life and times of Holmes, the youngest CEO of Theranos, a Silicon Valley startup that rose to great heights and fell as dramatically. It is based on a podcast with the same name by Rebecca Jarvis and ABC Audio.
The trailer is out and shows a young Holmes, with shots of her at Stanford before she drops out and becomes a founder of Theranos, a company that says that it can conduct a series of tests with a few drops of blood. Her claims prove to be false as the company is unable to develop such groundbreaking technology.
The young self made billionaire has recently been convicted on four counts of wire fraud, after a 15-week trial. Theranos investors from different fields such as business, sports and even retired politicians had invested millions in Theranos and Elizabeth Holmes could face years in prison for defrauding them.
Hulu is not the only one who is producing a drama series on the rise and fall of Theranos as well as Elizabeth Holmes. Adam McKay’s “Bad Blood” is also in development. Jennifer Lawrence plays Holmes in this project.
