On Wednesday, President Joe Biden held a press conference and spoke to reporters in the East Wing of the White House. The president believed that his administration “outperformed” expectations, despite several crises faced this past year. He admitted that the pandemic was still a challenge. He said that the Democrats could pass “big chunks” of his domestic policy bill that was stuck in the Senate as two of his own Democrats Sen. Joe Manchin and Sen. Krysten Sinema were reportedly unwilling to vote for it, in its present state, in an evenly balanced Senate.
Biden outlined the administration’s earlier success including the coronavirus relief bills as well as the bipartisan infrastructure law that will improve public services in every state of the nation. He said that it had been a “year of challenges” as well as a “year of enormous progress.”
He struck a realistic note when he spoke of the ongoing challenges that were ahead due to the contagious omicron variant of the coronavirus. He also acknowledged that there was rising inflation and that his agenda was unfulfilled despite his majority in the Congress.
However, he struck an optimistic note when he said that he called the pandemic “a job not yet finished.” He said that it would “get better.”
