Although Adele might have been away for about six years her music remains high up on the charts. She released her single Easy On Me on midnight on Friday, October 15 and its smashed through records in the U.K. as well as around the world. It reached the number one spot on Friday, after its overnight debut.
As Adele has mentioned before, the album is a reflection on her feelings and more after her divorce with her husband Simon Konecki. She had said that the superb ballad Easy On Me was written for her son Angelo. She was trying to explain the divorce of his parents to him, through a song. Critics and fans have praised the powerful single for its brutal honesty.
The UK charts have also been in her favor as the song is surpassing or reaching earlier records set by her or others as of now on the U.K. charts as well as on streaming services, worldwide.
Her new track was on Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart. Its sales figures in the first week were 217,300. This is the highest Week One figure since 2017. In January 2017, Ed Sheeran’s sales figures reached 226,800 for Shape Of You.
The Hello star also broke another Official UK Chart record. Her track Easy On You was streamed 24 million times in the UK, this week. Earlier Ariana Grande was the singer whose song had been streamed 16.9 million times. The pop singer had topped the streaming numbers for her song 7 Rings released in January 2019.
The song has also hit the airwaves as it was heard by 100 million listeners in one week on UK radio. It became the first to cross the 100 million mark this year.
The digital download sales of Easy On Me have also earned 23,500 which has been the highest week in sales in 2021.
